Top British string manufacturer Rotosound has improved its Steve Harris signature bass strings using a new burnishing process. The new upgraded strings have a smoother finish making them much easier to play at high speed.
Harris is well known as a founding member of IRON MAIDEN and is one of only two members to play on all their albums. He is considered one of the best and most influential heavy metal bass players in the world today. He is known for his "galloping" fleet fingered bass lines and his own unique tone.

The upgraded signature bass strings have been developed using a new process that gives these flatwound strings a smooth, slicker feel that means you can easily glide from the first to twelfth position without hearing the movement. Slightly brighter than traditional flatwound strings the Steve Harris signature set (product code SH77) has a unique clear mellow tone, which brings up the bottom end while toning down the high to balance the bass nicely.

"Werewolf", a brand new song from the Victoria, Australia-based project VESSEL, can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. The track, which features a guest appearance by British heavy metal vocalist Blaze Bayley (IRON MAIDEN, WOLFSBANE), comes off VESSEL's debut album, "Introspective", which is due in December.
IRON MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris has put his English country house on the market for £6,750,000 (approximately $10,805,000).

Maiden will play Lodz Atlas Arena on July 3rd and Ergo Arena Gdansk on July 4th. The last time they played these Polish cities was during the 1986 Somewhere In Time Tour.

Due to a number of health issues, including a knee problem which will require surgery soon, Di'Anno announced in July that he will stop touring next year.
Iron Maiden are the first headliners to be announced for Belgium's legendary Graspop Metal Meet.
The Festival takes place June 28-30. Maiden will be headlining on Sunday June 30th so will be closing the Festival for 2013.

Former lead singer of IRON MAIDEN - Blaze Bayley will visit Bulgaria again in 2013. The singer will perform a two-hour acoustic concert with IRON MAIDEN classics, and songs from his solo career in a special arrangement. Tickets for the event are limited to 100 and their price is 25 BGN (~12,5 EUR) until the end of 2012. From 1st of January their price will be 30 BGN(~15 EUR) Blaze will promote a new maxi-single with acoustic versions of IRON MAIDEN songs. The guitar accompaniment will be from Thomas Zwijsen..

According to AutoEvolution, IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain, who is a Jaguar enthusiast, took delivery of a Jaguar XKR-S on Friday, November 9. The car is said to be the fastest XK model ever built, with its 5.0-liter supercharged V8 enabling the Jag to sprint from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds.

IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain will take part in a meet-and-greet at the Coral Springs, Florida location of School Of Rock on Thursday, November 8 between 7:45 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.. The young music students of School of Rock are presently in rehearsals for a "tribute to IRON MAIDEN" show and are looking forward to some first-hand advice from Nicko himself.
"Nicko is awesome for volunteering his time to mentor the kids," says School Of Rock Coral Springs Music Director Andrew Musselman. "This is an opportunity that the kids will never forget."
"Our house band has been working on a cover of IRON MAIDEN's 'Aces High'," says Christian Davis, Music Director at the School Of Rock West Broward. "It would be amazing if they got to rehearse it with Nicko."
The performance-based music school, has decided to open their doors to the public for this one night, so that other kids in the community can meet Nicko and better understand the importance of music education. In lieu of an admission fee, School Of Rock will be accepting optional donations to the Rock School Fund. This fund will provide instruments and scholarship funding to cover tuition expenses based on a student's financial need combined with their desire to actively and passionately participate in a rock school program.

IRON MAIDEN have confirmed that they will close the show at the incredible 2013 Rock in Rio, Brazil, headlining the final night on 22 Sept - and they expect to go out with a bang!
They first appeared at the inaugural Rock In Rio, supporting Queen in 1985, during their World Slavery tour and made an historic return in 2001 headlining to over 200,000 fans shortly after Bruce and Adrian rejoined the band on the Brave New World tour. As Maiden fans know, this passionate performance from both band and crowd alike was captured on the Rock In Rio concert video cementing a lifelong relationship between Maiden and their Brazilian and Latin American fans which continues and grows to this day. Since then Maiden have been regular visitors to Brazil playing extensive tours in major arenas and stadiums from Belem to Porto Allegre, Recife to Manaus, and many cities between with four sold-out Stadium shows in Sao Paulo alone.
