London, UK - Roadhouse Interactive, 50cc Games and Metal legends Iron Maiden are pleased to announce that Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast, an action-packed, free-to-play RPG steeped in Iron Maiden mythology, will launch worldwide this summer on iOS and Android platforms.

Following a series of hit action sports titles for Red Bull Media House, Warhammer 40,000: Carnage, a Games Workshop ARPG, and SMOSH Food Battle for YouTube sensations SMOSH, Roadhouse Interactive's development and publishing divisions have been working hand in hand with Iron Maiden and their Phantom Music Management team, who have granted unparalleled access to the vaults in order to create a truly authentic Iron Maiden game.

"As a lifelong fan, I have always thought that Maiden's music, lyrics and cast of characters would provide the perfect basis for a deep RPG experience", says James Hursthouse, CEO of Roadhouse Interactive. "With this game we're creating an outstanding RPG that will appeal to all mobile gamers, including those discovering Maiden for the first time."

Developed in close collaboration with Iron Maiden's management, players take on the role of the band's iconic mascot, Eddie, in his many forms - each with unique abilities. Players explore new worlds, travel through time, and battle a cast of dramatic and engaging characters drawn from the expansive catalogue of Maiden's albums and art. Gameplay is enhanced with a soundtrack using songs spanning the band's entire career, including previously unheard live recordings of Iron Maiden classics adapted for the game by engineer Tony Newton under the close scrutiny of bassist and founding member Steve Harris.

"We know many of our fans are gamers and we have long thought that Eddie and Maiden's music and imagery would be perfect for this. It's something we have been looking at revisiting since Ed Hunter way back in 1999. Now in 2016 it can all be done on a smartphone so it makes it even more accessible for Maiden fans everywhere and also all the gamers out there." comments Harris.

Band manager Rod Smallwood says, "A game with tons of Maiden history, a load of unheard performances, and a chance to make your own Eddie army thanks to a world class Maiden-mad gaming company – now that's something I'm very excited about and I'm pretty sure our fans will be too. Thank you Roadhouse!"

Phantom Music creative director Llexi Leon adds, "This is the first time we'll see Iron Maiden's lyrical lore and the rich mythology of the record covers brought together in a cohesive universe, exploring Eddie's immortality and inviting players to control his destiny. The band's signature theatrics and musical drama set the tone for a unique adventure that's perfect for video games"

Iron Maiden's latest album, The Book of Souls, was released in September 2015 to popular and critical acclaim, hitting the #1 spot in over 40 countries and reinforcing their position as one of the most relevant and influential bands in music today. This year they will embark on the The Book of Souls World tour and with fan excitement at fever pitch it's the perfect time to expand Iron Maiden's legend into gaming.

Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast will be available later this year on iOS and Android platforms. See www.ironmaidenlegacy.com for ongoing releases about the game.

Maiden frontman tells Classic Rock he's halfway through writing process. Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson is working on what will be his seventh solo album. The vocalist tells Classic Rock he has about "half an album" written and that he plans to warm up for Maiden's 2016 world tour rehearsals by working on more of his own material. And he reveals that If Eternity Should Fail, from current Maiden album The Book Of Souls, was originally penned with his solo album in mind.

Dickinson says: "I'm looking forward to getting stuck into some sensible rehearsals. I may even sneak off and do some solo songwriting because I've got half of an album on the blocks.
"If Eternity Should Fail was originally intended as one of its tracks. But it could be a cool, relatively unchallenging way of pre-warming up the voice before I go into Maiden rehearsals. So making some noise that way first could be a possibility."

HarperNonFiction and Dey Street will publish IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson's memoir in autumn 2017 in hardback, ebook and audio, with a paperback to follow in 2018.

Bruce says: "It was flattering to be approached to write a book about my experiences and it seems an appropriate time to do this as I will have plenty of time on tour next year to work on a book. I am sure flying the 747 out round the world on tour will add to the tale with some unusual scenarios!"

Dickinson is a true polymath. In addition to being one of heavy metal's most storied and well-respected lead singers, Bruce is a qualified airline pilot, an aviation entrepreneur and motivational speaker and has been a world-class fencer, a published novelist, movie script writer and a radio broadcaster. His book will be a rock memoir like none other, taking in his thirty years with MAIDEN, his solo career, the weird and wonderful places and situations he's found himself in, and his recent battle with cancer.

Bruce is currently preparing for a massive world tour with IRON MAIDEN in 2016 following the recent release of their critically acclaimed new double studio album, "The Book Of Souls", which debuted at No 1 in over 40 countries. He is also using his simulator at Cardiff Aviation to learn to pilot the massive Boeing 747, Ed Force One , which will carry the band, crew and equipment over 55,000 miles round the world for concerts in 35 countries.

Publishing director Jack Fogg negotiated world rights with Adrian Sington at Kruger Cowne, Dave Daniel at Celebrity Speakers and MAIDEN's management, Phantom Music Management, and will publish in conjunction with Denise Oswald, senior editor at Dey Street in HarperCollins U.S.

IRON MAIDEN and the award-winning Japanese electronics company Onkyo Corporation are delighted to reveal the name of their new on-ear headphone collaboration, Ed-Ph0n3s.

Earlier this year a visual mock-up of the headphones was displayed on Maiden's iconic mascot "Eddie" at C.E.S in Las Vegas sparking huge international interest among the attendees.

In the intervening months, Onkyo's engineers have worked tirelessly with IRON MAIDEN's founder member and bassist, Steve Harris to fine-tune the product and we are delighted to have the very first production samples available exclusively at I.F.A for attendees to physically touch, hold and test out the sound, using the brand new album by IRON MAIDEN 'The Book Of Souls' on Stand 203 Hall 1.2.

Ed-Ph0n3s were used by Steve Harris in the mixing of the brand new Iron Maiden studio album, 'The Book of Souls', released globally today - September 4th. Steve had a working hand-build set for the mixing that Onkyo have tirelessly spent 9 months to fully emulate and ensure top grade quality on the production line within clearly defined tolerances.

VOCALIST BRUCE DICKINSON TO CAPTAIN AND PILOT A BOEING 747-400 JUMBO JET TO PLAY IN SIX OF THE SEVEN CONTINENTS TRAVELLING OVER 55,000 MILES (88,500km) AROUND THE GLOBE

"THE BOOK OF SOULS WORLD TOUR" IS EXPECTED TO VISIT AROUND 35 COUNTRIES
INCLUDING FIRST EVER CONCERTS IN CHINA AND EL SALVADOR

NEW STUDIO ALBUM "THE BOOK OF SOULS" IS RELEASED WORLDWIDE ON SEPT 4

IRON MAIDEN, whose new studio album The Book of Souls, their first for 5 years, will be released worldwide next week on Sept 4, are taking touring to a new level using a Boeing 747-400 Jumbo Jet (aka Queen of the Skies) for their World Tour next year. Vocalist Bruce Dickinson is currently in training for his licence to fly the massive four engine jet, which is almost twice the size and over three times the weight of the Boeing 757 used on previous tours in 2008/9/11 (see the comparison grid below of the Evolution of Ed Force One). The new Ed Force One will take the band, crew and over 12 tons of equipment more than 55,000 miles (88,500km) around the planet with concerts in six of the seven continents (Australasia, Asia, North and South America, Africa and Europe) with The Book of Souls World Tour 2016 expected to visit around 35 countries.

JET-003B 1000

Details of the precise schedule are currently being finalised and we will commence announcements of specific dates for the different territories in a few weeks' time. However we can reveal that The Book Of Souls World Tour will open in the U.S.A in late February with Ed Force One flying in for three shows before, in early March, heading into Central America visiting MEXICO, followed by a much anticipated first ever concert in EL SALVADOR and a return to COSTA RICA. Ed Force One then proceeds into South America for concerts in ARGENTINA, CHILE and a number of shows in BRAZIL before flying back to the USA at the end of March for ten more cities covering the USA and, of course, CANADA in the first two weeks of April.

A long awaited return to JAPAN follows later in April, and then the band are delighted to be playing their first ever shows in CHINA before heading to NEW ZEALAND and AUSTRALIA for a comprehensive tour during the first half of May. Shows in SOUTH AFRICA, Maiden's first visit there with Bruce, will be the last port of call before Ed Force One heads to EUROPE for a very extensive tour starting in late May and finishing in early August. This will the first time Ed Force One has ever been used on any European Tour dates (other than Bruce's Fan Club trips to shows) and will provide transport there for at least for the first few weeks.

Bruce Dickinson comments,
"When the opportunity arose from my friends at Air Atlanta Icelandic to lease a 747 for The Book of Souls World Tour, of course we jumped at the chance, who wouldn't? The greatest benefit of travelling in a 747 is that because of its colossal size and freight capacity we can carry our stage production and all our stage equipment and desks in the cargo hold without having to make any of the immense structural modifications needed to do this on the previous 757, the extent of which fans will have noted on the Flight 666 DVD. Although in reality we cannot carry much more gear the savings in complexity, time and cost make using the 747 even more practical. All we will need to do is "paint" it and move a few seats around, with the added advantage that there is much more room for band and crew – our Krew can almost get a row of seats each to catch up on sleep on the flights! Furthermore, it is marginally faster 0.85 MACH and the range of around 7000NM (13,000 km) is much greater which means we will not have to make the refuelling stops we needed to with the 757.

"However, even though we have worked out the logistics of taking a plane of that immense size out on tour, I still have to learn to fly it before we can go anywhere! So, I'm currently doing my training to qualify as a pilot and Captain on a Boeing 747. I'm doing this at Cardiff Aviation, my aircraft maintenance facility in Wales, where we recently took possession of a rather splendid 747 simulator which I can't wait to get practising on!

"We're all really excited at the thought of bringing our brand new tour to fans who have never seen us play live before, and of course re-visiting all our old friends again too. You can rest assured we are all working hard to put together a spectacular show for our fans."

The 747 is the world's most recognisable airliner on account of its distinctive hump. With its impressive dimensions of 70.7m (232ft) length, 19.4m (63.6ft) height and a jaw-dropping wing span of 64.4m (211ft) this double-decker aircraft has a range of 13,450km (7,262nm).

Final dates, venues and ticket on sale times, along with full details of what Maiden fans can expect from The Book Of Souls World Tour, will be announced by territory starting in a few weeks' time. As usual, where feasible, IRON MAIDEN Fan Club members will have exclusive access to purchase tickets before they go on general sale. Also, wherever possible, the Fan Club will again be running the First To The Barrier draw for privileged, early access to the venue to secure the best standing positions by or close to the barrier.

The Book Of Souls is Maiden's 16th, and first ever, double studio album and is released 4 September through Parlophone Records (BMG in the US). You can pre-order the album here.

Next month brings the release of Iron Maiden's first album in five years, a double LP called The Book of Souls. In a new interview with Italy's Corriere Della Sera, frontman Bruce Dickinson revealed the one of the album's tracks is dedicated to the late Robin Williams.

"My favorite song is one I didn't write," Dickinson explained. "It's 'Tears of a Clown,' which talks about Robin Williams. I ask myself how could he be so depressed when he always seemed to be so happy."

Williams committed suicide on August 11th, 2014 following a long battle with depression.

IRON MAIDEN's eagerly awaited new studio album The Book Of Souls will be released globally on 4th September through Parlophone Records (Sanctuary Copyrights/BMG in the U.S.A.). The stunning cover art was created by Mark Wilkinson, who has worked with the band previously, and because this 11-track album has a total running time of 92 minutes, it is IRON MAIDEN's first ever double studio album. There's a broader split on the songwriting compared to previous Maiden records, with bassist and founder member Steve Harris contributing to seven of the tracks; 6 of them with Maiden's guitarists and one sole composition. This is also the first time since 1984's Powerslave that an IRON MAIDEN studio album also features two tracks written solely by Bruce Dickinson, one of which is the longest song Maiden has ever recorded! And also two Dickinson/Smith collaborations.

Steve comments,

"We approached this album in a different way to how we've recorded previously. A lot of the songs were actually written while we were there in the studio and we rehearsed and recorded them straight away while they were still fresh, and I think that immediacy really shows in the songs, they have almost a live feel to them, I think. I'm very proud of The Book Of Souls, we all are, and we can't wait for our fans to hear it, and especially to take it out on the road next year!"

Bruce continues,

"We're really excited about The Book Of Souls and had a fantastic time creating it. We started working on the album in late summer 2014 and recorded it at Guillame Tell Studios in Paris, where we'd done the Brave New World album back in 2000 so the studio holds special memories for all of us. We were delighted to discover the same magical vibe is still alive and very much kicking there! So we immediately felt at home and the ideas just started flowing. By the time we'd finished we all agreed that each track was such an integral part of the whole body of work that if it needed to be a double album, then double its going to be!"

The Book Of Souls is the band's 16th studio album since their eponymous debut in 1980 charted at #4 in the UK, in a career achieving sales of over 90 million albums worldwide. Their previous album, 2010's The Final Frontier was Maiden's most successful chart-wise to date, reaching Number One in 28 countries and was their highest chart debut in the U.S reaching #4 in the Billboard 200.

Due to Bruce's illness the band had to delay touring plans but promise to be out on the road again early next year, giving time for Bruce to make a full physical recovery to be ready for the rigours of Maiden live performances.

Drummer McBrain reports launch has been delayed while frontman Dickinson recovers from cancer treatment

Iron Maiden's 16th album is complete and ready to go – but the launch has been delayed while Bruce Dickinson recovers from his cancer treatment.

The band announced last week that the frontman had completed a seven-week course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy after a tumour was found on his tongue last year.

Now drummer Nicko McBrain tells 98.7 The Gater: "We have made an album. It was ready to go this year – and still is. We were planning on going out and doing some work around the album.

"We're all just holding on. Once Bruce is up and running, hopefully in the next couple of months... you never know when this might happen."

He says of his bandmate's recovery: "All the treatment went exceedingly well. He was in amazing spirits, considering the brutality of the radiology – he had three chemo sessions. So it's been pretty hard."

McBrain adds that he and his colleagues were "blown away" when told of Dickinson's illness, but that the singer was "in great hands, not only with his family but with his oncologists and all the people that are working with him. They were all very positive, as Bruce has been."
